Medical professionals have enjoyed a high degree of respect in society, owing to the nature and importance of their work, as also the dedication and sacrifice which the profession demands. A sense of nobleness is often attributed to the profession, and for good reason.

Indian medical students who had returned from war-torn Ukraine will now be allowed to relocate to universities in other countries and complete their studies. There are about 18000 such students who have left their MBBS midway due to different reasons.

“MBBS at government medical college is highly subsidized” is the most blatant ignorant lie propagated through all media outlets always. What they derive this misconception from is an ironically stupid calculation of dividing whole hospital budget by number of MBBS students, as if whole expenditure of hospital is directed at teaching MBBS student itself. To add to irony they compare the fees in private medical colleges which runs upto 10-20 lakhs per annum and then say government fee is far too less.

The truth is that a medical college has a big budget for public service, be it infrastructure, equipments, investigation machineries, high salary, patient facilities, expenditure for consumables and several other requirements for treatment of a vast population 24 x 7 days.
